Human Gear ANIMATO

ImageUploadedByTalkBass1363208428.950643.jpg

I just did this. It's only paint. :bassist:

lol, good to know.

After some quick Googling, this might be what you're after:

It's exactly the same measurments as my Animato. $10 + postage is a bit steep just to save some gold paint IMO.

thanks for the suggestions - found another option :)

Sold my unmolested animato and bought another one with a bit of play wear and the velcro already fitted. It came with a lower serial number and I came out £120 better off too. Loving having this pedal on my main board.

Hello everyone, first post here!

I've recently stumbled upon an [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] of this legendary pedal, does anyone know what's going on? Has some german company bought the HumanGear company? Has anyone bought the pedal from there? This could be a game changer...

Resurrecting this thread a bit...

I was looking for the Gromtech copy (Aminato) but stumbled across a Human Gear Animato on Reverb that looks a little rough but apparently works just fine. We will see! Funny that I found that before I could find a clone. :D

So I will be looking forward to trying it out!

Here's my pedalboard, with my Animato on (#681). I've had this pedal for a while now, having found a new one in a local music shop for £110. I have to say I'm not very impressed. I also owned a RAT and have noticed no difference after an extensive A/B. It's not worth the money I paid for it and the shop don't want it back as they have too many in stock as it is.

I hardly ever turn it on, the big bass muff is much better. It's taking up valuable space on my pedalboard, and it's only use is to attract Muse fanboys.

Not impressed.
Ironically, the Animato is a variant of a Muff design...not a Rat. The whole point of the Animato is that it's not as scooped in it's mids as a Muff, and carries more higher freqs than a Muff...a bit more like a Rat. But without the low end loss that can occur with a Rat. So essentially...the best of a muff and the best of a rat fusion.

Got my Animato, #113. Definitely not a collector's item in appearance but it seems to work just fine.

It sure gets pretty snarly. Still messing around. I will say though, I can appreciate why some clones have a dry blend. For now I guess I will use the LS-2 method and see how that works.

So, if anyone knows of a Gromtech being available I'd sure love to know about it!

I had an Animato for a bit. Very cool pedal.

IMHO it does not sound like a RAT but could be used instead of a RAT. Both have tons of gain available and can be bright.

But as you increase the gain of the RAT, to me it gets fatter and a bit fuzzy, in a good way. As you increase the gain of the Animato, it gets angrier and more biting. Like @ModuMan said, it really snarls.

The RAT probably sounds better at lower gain levels. The Animato wants to be wild.

It does cut a healthy amount of bass. I can see why some would want a clean blend with it. By itself, I think it's really well suited to riding a low B string, for example. It's an insane, snarling, tight distortion.

Just got me a clone of the Animato made by a guy here in Portugal. I agree that on its own it's not that usable with bass but I tried it in parallel with a Green Russian reissue using my LS-2 and it sounded amazing. The Muff brought a lot of the low end to the tone as well as that compressed fuzz and the Animato gives that mid/high end distortion chainsaw drive and toghether they just make a super killer tone.
I bought this pedal because my band will start playing Hysteria but I totally see myself using it in many other ways.

Hi !
First post here, looking forward to being part of this community ;)
I'm resurrecting this thread for a quick FYI : you can find a couple of brand new Animatos on the Guitars Rebellion shop on Reverb for 419€ ($491). They ship worldwide : Human Gear Animato | Guitars Rebellion | Reverb

Just received mine today. SN #491. Pristine condition, in its original box with its "user manual" and certificate of ownership. That's one gritty little box! Hands down the best dirt pedal I've ever stumbled across. I honestly was completely unaware of all the hype surrounding it & bought it only because it sounded nothing like any other disto/fuzz out there (as far as I know...). It's definitely not for everyone, and some prices are simply outrageous. IMO, if you find one for less than $500 (which is already an insane price), I'd say go for it ; beyond that, you're paying for the myth, not for the sound.

In either case, hope you 'll find the right gear to express your own personal voice!
Cheers,
