Hybrid bag / case for mini-heads

I have a Genz Streamliner I have a bag and a case for.

My bag is a Gator mixer bag I got for like $45 from MF, it's better quality than the one Genz puts out and has room for a tuner and cables.

I hit the road often, and I need better protection. I bought a used anvil case from a military surplus store on eBay. Cost me $20 and fits perfectly. If I were to do it all again, I would get one of those pelican plastic cases. They're super lightweight, have pick and pluck foam so you can fit your head perfect, and they are super strong. They have a lifetime warranty, and can be submerged in water. Not that I think you'll be scuba diving with your gear, but if you're loading gear in the rain, it's one less thing to worry about!

I have a Genz Benz Streamliner, and struggled to find a case/bag that offered good protection and carrying ease. Initially, I went with a LiteFlight briefcase from Cabbage Cases (Columbus, Ohio). It offered the best protection, but still had to be carried by hand (something I was trying to avoid).

Eventually, I thought of going with a backpack so that I could carry all of my cables/etc on my back with the amp and make gigging a one-trip-from-the-car affair. After some searching, I found this at Target of all places:

http://www.amazon.com/Swiss-SA-9275-Laptop-Backpack-Black/dp/B004HCDA7M/ref=pd_sxp_f_i

It has an interior padded pocket with a velcro strap that is exactly the dimensions of the Streamliner. (It took a little coaxing the first time i put it in, but such is life...) It has adequate padding for getting to/from club gigs, and would work really well as an airline carry-on, too. Plenty of space for cables and other gig-junk. The way that the bag is constructed, the amp pocket doesn't actually touch the bottom of the bag, so if it were dropped, there would be a little space between the amp and the floor.

Not sure if it would work with other small bass heads (especially ones with sharper corners than the Streamliner), but nonetheless, I highly recommend it.

Just ordered one of these for my new Streamliner:

Soft cases make me nervous.

It's designed for guns- think it might even mention guns on the outside of the case. I'm thinking about painting "this machine kills fascists" on the outside when it arrives.

$33 to my door including tax and shipping- not too shabby. If money was no object, I may have gone for this guy in orange:

Like creis2 above said, you probably aren't gonna want to go scuba diving with your amp, but it's nice to know you could.
