WOW Very nice 4080 you have there!Nice! I've played a couple over the years and had one in my home for a small Rick confluence (MicRio) on 2009.

Shockingly it's only 14-15 lbs. With a wide strap it's not bad at all. I'll be adding another pound to it today when I install the direct replacement Hipshot bridge...
I've been trying to hunt one of these damn things down for years... The stars seemed to align as one showed up for sale just an hour away from me! Here she is... 1981 White 4080. View attachment 3277070
That's crazy! lucky you!I briefly worked at a guitar store in San Diego, winter of 1980. It was a Ric dealer, so I was in heaven. Pity I got canned for lack of sales! They had a pretty good guitar tech who knew how to work on Rics, and had some spare parts and stripped Ric basses kicking around. A guy came into the store with a HUGE guitar case. Turns out it’s Geddy’s guitar tech looking for some quick repairs or parts, never did find out what. We whined and wheedled a peek (but no touch!) inside the case. It was Geddy’s double neck, presumably a 4080? That thing was rock and roll! Pretty beat up and grungy, a real road bass. Rush was in town for a three night run, I got a ticket kinda blind, all I knew about Rush was A few songs I’d heard on the radio, and had seen pictures of him with a Ric, good enough! Like most bass players, I left the concert feeling thoroughly humbled after watching him play lead bass, sing, keyboards, and Taurus pedals simultaneously. Geddy’s a small guy, and the double neck looked huge on him, but I think he only played it on one or two songs. Never seen one in person since. I was so clueless to their music I couldn’t tell you what they played, but I guess it must have been Xanadu. Rare bird you have there, take care of it!
Thank you!!Does it come with an extra set of arms?...lol! Seriously, Really nice. Congrats.
Thank you everybody! Here's a snippet of Xanadu...
Thanks so much! I really was. It was an out of body experience getting to play Xanadu with this damn thing. So exciting! This is epic
You look so proud, as you should be!
Nice collection and great playing![]()
14-15lbs!
wow, that’s almost as heavy as my Stingray
Does growing a beard count lol? Thanks man! Demoing that thing out of the case was like an out of body experienceWow. You are my hero. Now all you need is a Minimoog, a Taurus 1 (or 3) pedalboard, and grow your hair.
