We paid off our house thing in June. Had a Nomomortgage Party.
That's noble of you, but also very wise. Student loans are a huge ball and chain to be dragging around, and helping them get paid off will be a huge head start for their careers and lives.
Our kids are in high school, so we'll have the same issues to deal with soon.
Meanwhile, congrats! Of course that side door will be great for getting your bikes in and out without opening the garage.

Only thing I'd be concerned about is:- You said there are lots of Mcmansions in the neighborhood.
Hope you checked out the annual tax bill beforehand. They will drive your taxes up.
I don't know about New Hampshire specifically, but if it's like most states, the property tax bill is exactly a percentage of the assessed valuation of the house, which is pegged to the purchase price when the house changes hands. So, the McMansions will have nothing to do with the taxes on h-rod's house.Nice house! Congrats! Very cozy looking..

Where I live if they build Mcmansions all around, then that affects the assessed value of my house (on their books) because all the mansions are selling for megabucks.

The McMansions are already built, so I don't think they'll be raising the taxes any more than they've already been raised.
Assessed values are "pegged" to market values, which are derived from neighborhood sales comp data. The McMansions CAN drive up the value of the LAND, which can drive up everyone's assessment.
Why are you guys trying to put a damper on the OP's house purchase?......

In California, property taxes are based on the last sales price of the home. In LA county, annual taxes are about $1300 per $100,000 of last sales price. It does not matter what other homes are selling for in the neighborhood.
Looks really nice. I love trees and very nearly bought something that looked much the same when I nearly moved to the USA. I dream of something like that in the UK (sadly not likely). Looks like 2017 is off to a good start and if part of the garage can be converted into a little music room the flat access out will be great for gigging, which is as good as a new bass.
