I built a new twelve string bass

That is really beautiful! I can't imagine the level of patience, motivation and skill required to make something like this. This is super impressive! I can't wait to hear it!
I love that while I don't have the skill/touch to make something like this, there are people like you who do, and share it with the rest of us.

I agree with everyone else: that bridge and tailpiece are perfect Great choice on the hardware too. I always kinda wondered who needed Gotoh Stealths, given guitars don't usually weigh that much, but this is the perfect place for them.
The only problem is now you gave me GAS for a 12 string but I already have way to many builds on the go!

There are so many things about that bass that I would have said I don't like, before I opened the thread and saw it. After opening the thread and seeing those pics, I think I might be in love. That is beautiful, and beautifully made!
Two questions though:

- I loved the look of the laminated neck. Had it been me, I'd not have painted over it. Was that a choice you made, or a requirement of the person you built it for?
- Is there any danger that the series/parallel switch on the control cover could get switched when the bass in being worn/played?
That's amazing! Love that the switch for series/parallel is on the back, that's a nice touch. Finish looks phenomenal too. Great job!

I laminated the neck for strength and stability, not for esthetics. ;-)
The Mazda colour was my own decision. The guy who I built it for gave me carte blanche for the colour.
So I grabbed my chance to try this colour for once (unbenownst it would be such a pain to get it right...
Not really, it is recessed so it barely peaks out over the surface of the plastic plate.
Dude, that is the most C clamps that I've ever seen in my life.

Very curious to hear the Alumitones. I have a Q-tuner in the neck position of my Waterstone TP-12 34" and a pair of Lane Poor wide apertures in my Hamer B12L. IMO, the Q-tuner sounds very good in a 12. The LPs are nice too (very open, natural sound), but lower output, not as full in the lows, and difficult to get these days.
