I don’t like the drugs but the drugs like me bass effect

Hi all. I’m wondering how one would go about recreating the bass tone and effect Twiggy Ramirez has produced on this track featured on the Mechanical Animals record

sounds like an envelope filter but Im after some advice on it

thanks

I've listened to both the album and the live version, and the only effect I hear is during the bridge. It is, as you say, an envelope filter.

I only have an EHX Q-Tron to fumble around with, so I'm not sure how much help that would be to you. I think it sounds like what Bootsy Collins used on Bop Gun, maybe you can dig something up about that.

What you are hearing is the bass line being doubled by Clavinet and a distorted wah wah guitar. @Nashrakh is correct that it was a common Bootsy & Bernie Worrell sound texture in Parliament / Funkadelic and in Bootsy's bands. Bootsy did try to mimic that sound by adding distortion, modulation, envelope filters and wah wah BUT nothing quite captures the sound of Clavinet.

I am working on a sound on the SA Ultrawave that is getting close but no cigar yet.
