I am a lefty with a nice collection of basses. My favorite bass is my 1996 Am Std Precision with a (non-stock) Original '62 pickups and GHS flatwounds. Keep in mind we are talking about the Original '62 NOT the Custom Shop '62 which I don't like as much.
You could pay twice as much for an Aguilar or Lindy pickup and it would not sound any better for this vintage sound. Some of those other pickups are often too overwound to deliver a legit vintage sound.
Another fantastic pickup and very similar to the '62 is the Seymour Duncan SPB1.
One thing for lefties: this pickup comes with a shielding plate soldered under the pickup (it will all make sense when you'll try to install the pickup trust me). To use this pickup in a LEFTY PBass, you need to unsolder the plate, flip it and resolder it before installing the pickup.
