I don't think I like my Ampeg PF115 cabs...

It also sounded killer the ought the 210av cabs I use to have. I'm just not into the 15's I guess and yes, they flub out when pushed, regardless of EQ settings. Sure I'm new, but looks like I'm not the only one on here with similar experiences with this cab.

No disrespect, but I think you are doing something wrong, or as has been mentioned the seal on your cabs needs to be looked at.

I say this because if you are comparing the 115's to the 210av's and the 210's have a better output, something fishy is going on. The 210's are medium duty at best.

What are your exact EQ settings? all the knobs, and the ultra switches please.

Referring to the 10's, I just prefer the way they sound. Either way, I think I'll be selling the rig either way since I was just offered a job in Denver and don't want to haul the stack out there with me. I'll probably be selling a Classic 50's P as well, and just keep my '76 P to take on the move.

Comp: 10 o'clock
Gain: 2-3 o'clock
Ultra lo: messing with it in & out
Ultra hi: out
Bass: 10 o'clock
Mid: #2 @ 1-2 o'clock
Treble: 2 o'clock

I've played 15" cabs since the '70's & my old EV TL606 handles WAY more power, goes far louder without farting out than the 3 PF115HE's I've tried.
So I do know what to expect a 1x15 to do.
With the 3015 in the PF115HE cab it behaves like the old "robust" EV's that I used to use (& still have)
A few others here in Aus I know have said similar. We all think the stock driver, while nice tonally, is pretty lightweight as far as power handling.
Volume is, of course, very subjective.
All that said, I still liked the stock PF115HE, great tone, & if I was gonna use 2 always, they'd be fine for me, but I wanted to use just one often.

I'm toying with the idea of ditching both cabs for a 410 or 810 or something similar.

It's too bad, but find it hard to see how people actually play with a rock band with these cabs. They're great for a low volume gig like a jazz gig or something I'm guessing, but they don;t do well when pushed at all.

I also have a love/hate relationship going on with my PF-115HE cabinet.

LOVE it as long as I'm directly in front of it, Hate it's off axis sound.

What I at first thought was the driver distorting at moderate volume levels turned out to be the lid moving/vibrating.
The lid would move when the cabinet was in transport also.
I added extra rubber foam strip and then screwed down the lid using 1-1/4" screws and finishing washers.

"To my ears", screwing down the lid made a noticeable improvement.
The cabinet seems slightly louder and the lows are slightly more solid.

I like the cabinet enough now that I'm considering either adding a Eminence 3015 driver as Rodl2005 has.......or.......getting a second 115HE and stacking them.
Not sure which choice would give me the greater advantage.

Yes sir, it might.

With the lid off, it's a very clean and well laid out interior with a brace running vertically across the back of the cabinet.

It has thin (1/2" felt ?) batting on the back and the two side walls.

I thought of adding a dowel brace vertically to help support the cabinet's lid but ended up just screwing the lid down since I don't make use of the flip-top option anyway.
