I hate black basses, except...

To me, black basses are just like black cars. They look great! But only the day you wash them. The rest of the week they just look dirty.
I had just one bass for 15 years, and it was black. It's up for sale. If I can, I will never buy a plain glossy black bass again. It looks awful in gig photos, with finger marks and grease and what not. It would look good for the first five songs and that's it.
Unless you have a roadie that can clean it up while you switch basses or during the breaks, of course. Just like Joe Satriani when he toured with the shiny silver guitar... he'd have a bunch of them, just the same, and switch them every song, so the roadie could clean them.
