So Friday I went to Guitar Center and seen a Crate BT220 on clearance for 319 dollars. So I put it on lay away that day and came back here and told you all about it. Well today I walk into Guitar Center to find my amp back on the shelf with a 500 dollar price tag on it. They refused to sell it to me for the said price of 319 dollars when I put it on lay away. I will be bringing the law into this matter to get my amp for the right price but after this I'm never going to Guitar Center again.:scowl:

They wont, they for sure arn't getting my buisness again. I just hope that they didn't lie to me about the lay away... He said it would be a official lay away and he took all my information but Im wondering if he lied and didn't do it so that if I bring the law into it they wont believe me
Just have them write a letter, and that usually clears most things up!
And even if you didn't have the lawyer hookup, most lawyers would write a letter for a small amount of money.
Well yeah, but that's all I'm looking for. All I'd do is have the lawyer make a nice threat and Guitar Center would bend over backwards to give me the amp for practiclly free to avoid getting into crap.
Did you put money down? If you didn't you simply asked them to hold it for you. If you put money down you will have a reciept for the money you put tward the amp and what price they are going to sell it to you for. That would be your binding contract. If you didn't put money down I am afraid you are SOL.

Well, I didn't put money down but it was an actual lay away. I have the recipt that says so with the price tag of 319. Unfortunantly it's hard to get a hold of the guy who agreed to do a lay away because I think he's a volunteer fire fighter and he gets called into duty constantly. So I will give him a call and see what the deal is.
He was like "Oh, well this isn't right I'm going to have to talk to Jim(another worker) about this because I can't do this" and he's the manager. So obviously if the manager refuses than he's going to tell this Jim guy that he's not allowed to do it either.
I think you will have a problem since no money changed hands. Sometimes it is done as a "today only" special
If you didn't put money down, then I really don't think you have a case. GC's Layaway terms are normally 25% down and 30 days.
GC is a big, big company, you should be able to get a very sweet deal out of this if you are right. Contact local consumer TV or newspaper reporters for help.
I too, hate GC. Most of their employees are young punks right out of high school who know absolutely nothing about music or the stuff they are selling. You ask for help, you get grief. I don't know if all GCs are like this, but they practically frisk you as you try to leave the store. They are also too small for all the crap they carry. I have been in two GCs (one in NJ, and one in AZ), and I have had the same exact BAD experiences in both.
