...precisely my point!
Heh, I could do it - it's just a matter of how to notate free passages. And also, the length. I mean, 24 minutes is a lot for one tune. I could transcribe it - but I haven't got the time to transcribe five 24 minute pieces in a month. To do it in a month, they'd have to be a slightly more reasonable length.
Well, you were all "I can transcribe anything, c'mon then!"
Yeah - but time is the issue here. I was thinking of suggestions like Spearhead's original ones in the first post. Now you go talking about 100 minutes of crazy Jazz.
..and here I was thinking about a couple of tracks from Tijuana Moods, some of Herbie's more 'out there' stuff and maybe a horribley complex live track from the marcus miller CD I just bought!
...and now it's all, "go on pick five ordinary songs and I'll do it"
Hey hey, no, not five ordinary songs. Just not five 25-bloody-minute ones! And are we talking about just bass lines here, or all the parts?
I could figure 5 ordinary songs in a week for God's sake. It'd take me a month to write it all down mind you, cause my notation is next to non-existent...!
Again, do you mean the bass lines, or all the parts? If you're just talking about basslines, no biggie - 5 ordinary songs in less than a week (including notation), no problem.
Basically, I'm not betting you £20 that you cant notate a bunch of 4/4 pop songs in pent minor and some major keys!!!
I'm not talking 4/4 pop songs. I was thinking the more complex end of things. And, I was actually thinking you meant all the parts - not just the bass. When I said Stevie Wonder, I wasn't thinking of just the bass line to You Are The Sunshine Of My Life, I was thinking of all the parts to Sir Duke & I Wish sorta thing etc. - bass, keys, horns, etc.
Did you want me to transcribe just the basslines to the wild Herbie stuff or the whole lot?
