I have been playing for 30 years. I am finally in a cover band that I really like. We do all 90s alternative (STP, Green Day, GodSmack, Soul Asylum, etc). I was playing a Fender Rumble 500 combo and while it was loud enough (with the additional 115 extension cab), it just sounded "meh." I found a great deal on a GK RBI 1001 here on the boards after test driving one at Guitar Center (really, the only thing they are good for any more). So I started playing that with the Rumble 115. I quickly sold the 500 combo and got a 410 Rumble to match the stack. This thing is loud and with character from my Sansamp BDDI pedal, it was exactly my dream tone. Since my GK is in a rack case, I thought, why not get the Sansamp RBI (other than the fact that its $300)? So, I did that, took the BDDI off the pedal board along with the tuner, reinstalled my Fender rack mounted tuner and put it all in a rolly SKB rack case. It looks great - let's admit that kinda matters - and more importantly, the subtle controlability of the RBI gives me even better sound. I love it. I love the Rumble cabs - they are light enough for a 44 year old bassist to lug around. I love the GK headroom. And the rolling case makes it very manageable. There is also more room in this case, so I can reduce my baggage. (Not emotional baggage, just bass crap.... ;) )

JK, the rig looks awesome and in the pic it kinda looks like you're in one of the 90's bands you're covering. In a good way!

Thanks. Yeah, it's funny because people give those Rumble cabs a lot of $hIt but they are super solid for the price. I've owned Mesa and Ampeg monsters and, I'm not gonna lie, they had a slightly richer tone. But for me and this rig, it's perfect. And the Sansamp allows me to really craft the tone regardless of the speakers. But, even just GK to the 410 Rumble is awesome.

And, thanks, it does look pretty cool, huh?

I was hinting more at the 410 + 115 and less at the Rumbles. Never seen anything bad about the Fender Rumble stuff on here.
