Double Bass I HEART YOUTUBE

edspotchair.jpg

Wonderful U Tube links, thanks.

Rick Laird gets a fabulous sound on the upright. Notice the gift-wrapped mike stuck inside the bridge. Worked great on that session.

Nice to actually hear Rick for a change regardless of the situation. On my old Mahavishnu vinyl LP's, they did a Bill Wyman number on him and buried him in the mix. That may have been Hammer's doing.

If I ever get to hear remastered Maha material sometime, I'll be interested to hear if they brought up the bass a bit. A shame to have a cooking drummer like Cobham with very little distinct and audible low end to feed off of.

Well, time to go check out the other clips. That Kiss clip is a hoot. If I had money, I'd pay Blood Red Throne to do a Supertramp spoof. (If you like mass hair movement, go check out Blood Red when they go into one of their group windmill routines.)

OK, but I don't want to hear ANY complaining about scratches.

Where's the gig, oh Miss Tearious one? And how many people ARE in your quintet?

Cute, that miss tearious.....If I HADN'T had a place to stay.....one look at you and yer ugly pussy would have given me the incentive to call the Y.
Actually, it will be a quartet and one special guest of mine. She looks like Cyd Charrise and owns my heart.
Myownself, being the great bassist and politico I am, can say no more.
I hope for you, Lexi, Kev, Ray, ET al, are not gigging these nights. Not 'cause I wanna hang with yer ugly asses, but because ANY venue you may be working will be vacant. EVERYONE, of ANY stature (that leaves all of YOU out anyway) will be with us. If any of you do show up, I will know it will be only to try and cop my lick. :atoz:

Every time I hear you play, you sounded better the time before....

Only to YOUR ears. The greatest artists, including MYOWNSELF, are able actually, to go BACKWARDS in our musical genius....being musically inept, like YEROWNSELF, I wouldn't even attempt this. It takes many, many years of dedication, blood, sweat AND tears.... not to mention many, many thousands of American dollars and cents.
This, of course, WEEDS out ALL the meaningless BULL****. ( HA! DURRL.....I jus' censored MYOWNSELF!) technical tripe, and many, many useless notes.
What WE have left here, is the answer to ALL of the miss tearious questions posed by the GREAT musical minds throughout history. (And, even BEFORE that.)
Again, I leave you to ponder.

You do ponder, doncha'?
