I Know Everybody Talks About Having Too Many Bass'! How About Bass Rigs?

OK, I'll play but to you guys I must look like a bit of a piker with as little stuff as I have...

69 SVT/73 810
64 B-15N combo + Vintage Blue and Fliptops B-15 repro cabs
Micro VR/Two SVT 210AV's
PF350/Two PF115he's
Tube Works 410T

I have not seen any posts about having too many bass rigs. Most people have way to many bass's. After digging through my stuff in the garage I have found there are 7 complete rigs out there, not to mention my combo amp in the house. What I found:

1. Carvin Redline RL810 and Carvin BX 600 head

2. Carvin Redline RL410 and Carvin Redline 600 head

3. Carvin BR410N,Carvin BR15N and Carvin BX 500 head

4. Hartke 4x10 (Old One) and Hartke HA 2500 head

5. Behringer BA 410 and Behringer BX4500H head

6. Fender Bassman 100 Combo

7. Markbass 106HR and Markbass LM II

Can you send me a cab? :p I kid, I kid

So we agree to agree! Sometimes cheap is good as,or sometimes better than quality/expensive.

While there are always exceptions, for the most part, no. Cheap is cheap, and quality is quality.

I think after 45 years of bass playing and owning more gear than I can remember,I have come to this conclusion. I can put a speaker in a cardboard box,and power it with my Heathkit power amp(yes I built it when I was 16),and get a good sound.

Nonsense, rubbish and hyperbole. There is a lower threshold of complete crappiness that nobody can make sound good - not even you.

This is just silly...

Between guitar and bass, I have 4.5 full Marshall stacks (5 heads, 9 cabs).

All the heads are bass amps:
1x VBA 400
3x Super Bass
1x 1986 (50W version of the Super Bass)

4 bass cabs:
2 4x12s (1x 1520, 1x 1984B)
2 2x15s (1x 1551, 1x 1552)

5 guitar 4x12 cabs:
2x 1960B
3x 1982B

Sick thing is I'm always on the lookout for more, hehehe...

Cheers!

Not as silly as you may think. I'm sure he was exaggerating with the cardboard box (I've heard Heathkit amps were pretty decent from those who have them), but I've played some very crappy rigs in my adventures in renting backline on the road, and I can always get a usable sound out of every single one of them, even the creme de la crap. Won't always be my favorite sound, but I can make them work.

I just took inventory of what I have... oops. I think I need to thin out the inventory.

Just to be clear, we are talking just bass amps right? (cuz guitar amps are a whole other matter)

1x Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0
1x Markbass Little Mark III
2x Bergantino HT112
1x Markbass Minimark
1x Phil Jones Briefcase

OK, I'll play:

Amps

Hughes and Kettner Fortress Pre-amp => QSX PLX1804 in EWI 4U rack
Mesa Boogie Bass 400+ in EWI 6U rack
Eden WT800B in EWI 4U rack
Eden Nemesis ENX260
Markbass LM II

Cabs

Bergantino NV412
Peavey 215 with Eminence Deltalite II drivers
(2) Mesa Boogie PH112

GK Backline 100 the I keep in my home project studio as a practice amp.
Line 6 Bass Pod that I use to DI into Pro Tools LE.
SWR Workingmans 15 for small room gigs with a couple of acoustic trios I work with.
And a recently acquired Markbass LM3 with 102p that I will be using with my old SWR
1 x 15 ext cab for the full band gigs.
I'd reduced my pedal "board" to just a Boss TU2 but recently have just been using a clip on tuner so it's bass>cable>amp...although sometimes I use a wireless rig.

I agree Jimmy. I've had to play through some pretty poor equipment in my time, I just make the best of it.

You have to work with what you have. PLUS, you should work within your budget and level of ability (to a degree). Before I could afford the gear I have now, I bought the best gear I could afford without dipping into the family budget.
Was it the absolute best? No.
Did I have a gas with it? YES!

Oh, and all of it is still being used by friends/family.

As far as rigs, in addition to my sig, I have an old Fender Bassman 100 head with one of those big, bad(as in "not good") 412 cabs.
