i've had a love/hate relationship with J-basses (prefer a PJ), but i'd rather play a J than most folk's P-bass any day.

That's what I was doing too, but I finally came to grips with the J being what works best for me

Well, they look cooler, the necks are generally a little quicker. And without looking, they sound the same. Unless you’re dimed on the bridge and playing right over the metal I have never met a bassist who can tell a P from a J on a commercial recording. I know I can’t.
So if they fit your hand better it’s a better bass for you. Well done.

I do too. I love my P bass and I play it quite a bit but I'm def a J bass guy.

But at the moment the J4 came in... Something happened. Something special.
