This reminds me of that funny YouTube video of the kid saying I like turtles, but tomorrow I might get a turtle as a pet. I have a big tank. I have the gravel as well. All I need is a nice water filter, a heat lamp, and the little guy himself. Any turtle owners out there with tips?

I like turtles.

Feed them outside of the water so it stays clean longer. I've got a Tupperware contained I put them in where they eat baloney like it owes them money.
Who was the guy who had the turtle that his son had for about 18 years and he found that it passed away recently? He posted a thread about it. He has experience with them.
I think that was relic who had the turtle that passed away. I don't know anything about painter turtles, I've got red eared sliders
Congrats! Glad you chose the neck-through option, though I would have gone with a maple fretboard.
Painted turtles (Chysemys Picta) average about 7" (straight from nuchal scute to the but, not following the curve) the general guide is 10gal per inch = 70 gal minimum tank. IMO, that tank is too small for him/her but I can't see the whole thing.
Water needed to be as deep as possible, with room for their basking ramp. UVB/basking lights are needed. heat temps should be at least 5 or 10 degrees warmer than the water. A STRONG filter overrated for the tank size. Fluval makes a good canister filter. Gravel is decorative only, not needed.
Baloney should NEVER be fed to ANY turtle, it's full of fat and salt that will eventually kill them. Water turtles should have a variety of a pellet food(like ZooMed's) AND dark green leafy veggies, live food like meal worms, earthworms, phoenix & wax worms, and even the occasional pinky. Never veggies like broccoli and the life, the stiffer ones are bad for them. Blocks calcium absorption.

keeper for about 7 -8 years: bred and raised CA Ornate Wood turtles, kept 4 red ears, russian tortoise, boxie and currently 2 wood turtles bred, born and raised here, 1 spotted turtle and a reeves from well know breeders.

For funk, I'd say a highly colored turtle to match Bootsy Collins...one of my ornate wood turtles might fit. For the record ,Steve is a photogenic turtle....
