I love Avatar...

For many reasons, but here are just 2

1) I paid for a 4x10 with tolex on monday, got it today.

2) Because of a scratch about the size of a dime, I got it for $305!

Once they start doing 15's again, I will never buy cabs from anyone else ever again.

Avatar illustrates how American companies can compete in a global economy: great product, unsurpassed service, low price-point = unbeatable value! I just received a 212 “blem” that rocks, the horn vol pot is as useable as any EQ on my bass or amp! Dave run GM so we can get our $$$$$ back

Woo, I hear that. Avatar cabs are pretty slick. I would admit to intense desire for a 610. I wish there was at least some hope of it happening. I would order one in burgundy tolex with a black or silver cloth grill. Maybe even two.

Is Dave going to start doing 1x15s again?

I have a Bergantino AE410 and I used to have an Avatar 410 Neo. I've decided that they sound far more similar than different. If I'd had the opportunity to A-B them before I pulled the trigger on the Berg, I may very well have stuck with the Avatar. It really was a good cabinet.

If Dave were to find a way to cram a 15" speaker into the same box that holds the 1x12, if it were a 4-ohm speaker, and if worked remotely well enough in that small box, I would absolutely buy one. Sort of a Schoeder 15L killer.

If you really read the specs on the neo 12's vs: neo 15's, you will see that there is no real benefit of building the 15's. I have bought every Avatar Neo made and for what its worth, in my humble opinion, 2-112's with around a 500 watt amp is about as good as it gets. Now, if you are into monster rigs of doom, then get 2 Avatar 410's and a 1k+ amp.

Going the other direction (downsizing) is of more interest to me. I have an Avatar 112 Neo - it's a good cabinet, but simply cannot cleanly push the sound level I require on its own. I pair it with an Avatar 210 - the result is good, but I prefer not to carry two cabinets around. 410s, even the Berg AE410 I have now, are lighter than they used to be but are by no means light in an absolute sense.

What I would really like is a single, sub 35 pound, giggable cabinet. Therefore my reference to the 4-ohm Schroeder 15L.

I miss my Avatar Rig of Doom! It was (all pre-neo cabs): B210[8 ohm], B115H [8ohm], B212 [4 ohm] powered by a Carvin DCM2k. Louder than I would ever need. I sold the B210 & B115h. The B212 is sitting in my Mom's basement.

The SB112 neo isn't quite as light as what I'm hoping to go. If he starts to do lighter 1X12 (low 30's weight) or a 1X10 that can handle 200-300 watts, I'll end up making the jump again.

I have that Avatar cabinet!
It's a old Avatar 115H cab. It's 4 ohms, front ported, 600 watt Kappa Pro 15" speaker with a horn. It's the same box Dave now uses for either his 112 cab or the 210 cab.
I'm running a passive 4 string Jazz into a Aphex Bass Exciter into a old G.K. 800 head into the 115H.
"Extremely loud" and full little rig!
It hasn't the high quality horn of the Schroeder, but it is a inexpensive 15L!
