I May Have Fried My Pedal (Sansamp Programmable DI)

So I was just trying to fix one of my Programmable Sansamp DI pedal's footswitch (it was sticking when pressing it down). I was using contact solution to spray on the metal footswitch while it was unplugged and the battery was taken out and I heard a loud pop. I went to test it out right away and, unfortunately, it is not turning on.

I was wondering if anyone has gone through this with any of their pedals before and if there is anything I can do to salvage the pedal?

I doubt you did.

If the pedal still powers up (i.e. lights) and passes signal, you didn't fry it.

The mechanical switch was wearing out or mechanically sticking when it rocked internally. More than likely the switch broke. Contact solution wouldn't fix it.

If it's under warranty, you gotta contact Sans Amp. DO NOT OPEN THE PEDAL. You'll void the warranty.

If it's out of warranty, take the bottom off. Desolder and remove the switch. Take it to an electronics parts house (not Radio Shack they won't have it) and ask for one. The switch is common and will be $5 or so.

Solder in the new one and you're good to go.

I'm not clear as to what might cause a "pop" if the unit was not plugged in.
