So you are saying you tossed the junk into a whiter shade of pail?Trust me, they could have done worse. And on a much better instrument. That will probably hold, as long as it doesn't take another shot to the side or back. I'd probably plug it and forget it.
I used to have a 9×13 cake pan in my shop with random hardware pulled from basses. I finally needed the pan for something else and started tossing the junk into an old porcelain coated milk pail. It's heaped over now.
