I messed up.

My information is for newbies too, and I never argued against your advice.
Fair enough -- I think others interpreted it as such.

It's funny to have been called a noob in this thread; I think some of the differing perception of what's out there is partly due to my age. I've been playing bass for 33 years, and when I started, it was on whatever crappy gear I could scrounge. And awareness of the likelihood of coming across 8-ohm min amps was a real thing. Still is.

I think people get mad when one is thinking outside the box that they are in. At least, that's my experience.

I always figured "a couple" = 2, "a few" = 3, "several" = more than three, "many" = more than "several" (whatever that is). ;)

Though it's literally true that there are "many" 8 Ohm minimum Class D Amps in circulation, the number of such designs is a small percentage of that population.

Cheers,

I was only here waiting for the flame war.

Disappointed.

;)
Haha. Sorry to disappoint you.

I *love* debate. It's fun. Even when it gets a little pointed. But I like it to be respectful, like back when I used to spar in Tang Soo Do training, but with words and facts and credentials.

I even debated Agedhorse a bit here, lol. But only about word meanings, which is my field. Not about amp topology or physics...!

But anyway, yeah, insults are best traded amongst friends, not between strangers. :)

(Edit - wait, were we only talking about class D?)

The immediate Middle English precursor to our modern word "many" included the equivalents of "manier" and maniest," which suggests that your sense of the word is reasonable, as is how I used it. IMO.

Anyone is invited to DM me for discussion about whatever words I choose. I'm sure to share many cheerful facts about it. :)

I'm sure there's a "many" in here somewhere:
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

Interesting thread you guys have created here.......

I think "many" may have missed the word combo in your post, others seem to not consider combos as amplifiers.

My Peavey Max 250 combo amp has a speaker out, that is rated 8 ohm minimum, similar to your GK112.

That makes at least two "amps" in the world, that can connect an external speaker, that is limited to 8 ohm minimum?

:)
I have the same combo (Max 300 210). I have a 210 Eden cab that's 4ohms. No way I can connect it to the peavey combo is it? Would even like to bypass the Peavey speaker jsut to see/hear the difference between the two speakers.

I don't know about bypassing the two 10s in your combo, but on the back of mine, and should be on the back of yours, where the extension speaker plugs in, it says 8-ohm minimum.....so no 4- or less-ohm speakers, it will damage the internal circuits.
