I need a minute

I'm new to the forum so please tell me if this is in the wrong place. And if it's even ok to ask this.

Basically I'm a (very amateur) guitarist, not a bassist, and have written a piece of music that needs about one minute of bass at the end.

Am I allowed on this forum to ask if anyone could have a go at recording something for me? I can't pay but will be hugely grateful.

What I need is a driving bass starting at 04m57sec and maybe stopping at 05m52sec (but you might have a different opinion on where the bass should end.)

You can get the demo here (let me know if you want a click to work with):

Dropbox

Thanks in advance!

I gotta say that in all my time here, I don't believe I've ever seen a request for something like this. Usually people want to know
  • What bass should I buy? (A jazz bass. Or maybe a P bass. Or a Stingray. Or an MTD. Oh… I can't decide either.)
  • Do I need a compressor? (Yes. Unless the answer is no. But just to be safe, yes.)
  • How do I fire the drummer? (By text message.)
  • Should I sleep with the drummer's girlfriend? (Depends… are you going to fire the drummer soon?)
  • What's the best way to quit the band? (Rage quit, of course.)
  • What's the best bass for metal? (Hint: It's never one that you own.)
Welcome to Talkbass, where we can solve any problem, even ones you don't have.

Ignore my post above. (That guy doesn't know anything!)
Of course, please tell me to f-off if I'm being cheeky to ask such a thing!
No one here will be offended by that. In fact I'm pretty sure someone will give it a go. Hope it turns out well. :bassist:

Man, if I wasn't at work (or had my recording gear all packed up) I'd give it a whirl.

To help narrow it down for whomever wants to be benevolent, are you looking for a more modern (trebly, high-end sound) or something more vintage/thumpy? Just clean bass or do you want some overdrive/fuzz on it? Preference on fingers or pick?

I liked your Hip-Hop song!

As I understand, you want for someone to write a bass part for the section where only the drums are playing.
And it should be not some bass improvisation but a powerful (driving) bass riff.
I think there is some slow chord movement in that part.
Anyway, different bass players would have different bass-lines of different rhythmic - melodic phrasing. It's more up to you to adjust the direction for that bass part.

Thanks! And yes you're right, a powerful, driving bass is what we're looking for, but I don't have anything any more specific to say really.

A friend had a go and it sounded too much like the Chilli Peppers, which we're certainly not after.

In the context of the song, it's just come to a crescendo vocal-wise, so this section where I need the bass is intended to be euphoric, before the track gradually fades away at the end. Does that help?

How much does it weigh?!!

Chili Peppers exudes a different "vibe."

I need the bass is intended to be euphoric
Cool. I like that kind of expression.
That's why you hire this/that musician who can create the needed part in terms of requirements like "I need a euphoric bass line."

If you post this in the Bassists forum, there are some very cool Cats and great bass players.
You could pull someone in from there.
I would love to play, but my belief in my Original lines ability is shot to pieces ...so please go there.

Ok, will ask in there. But if you fancy having a go, why not? Your line could be exactly what I'm looking for!
