I need a new bass, good for slap

Ok, so I have a Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass that has lasted me a good 5 years. Love it, couldn't have really asked for more.

But, I need a new one, with better pickups and a nicer wood body.

Anything that is comparable to that classic Fodera sound will be more than all right, but I am only willing to spend 2 Grand at the most.

Only two requirements:

24 Fret
Good for Slapping

What would you all think is the bass that I am looking for?

EBMM Stingray - doesn't have 24 frets, but it is the King of Slapping Basses.

Well, I guess you mean something more modern sounding as you already own a J, the absolute king of slap basses as far as I'm concerned..

I've no idea what is the classic fodera sound other than maybe something hifi and polished. My suggestion would be to try out a cirrus. 24 frets, very modern, hifi and absolutely rocks when it comes to slap bass. Available in differend wood combinations.

Just to Clarify, When I said Classic Fodera Sound, I meant something very clean and polished was a good way to put it. I don't know if this is with every one, but the Foderas I have played all seem to just sound and feel great. It may just be the hype, being they are FODERAs.

Have you looked at the Classic J from Suhr?...you may like that tone...sweet and solid.

Don't get me wrong, the geddy is a great slap bass. All fender jazz are. But im looking for something with a different feel and tone just cause its been a while. Im still going to play my geddy, I guarantee you that

A sterling stingray is a nice bass for slap...1900 bucks if I recall. If you have that much money, I would even look into getting some sort of custom.

The only thing I could recommend is putting them in to the notify of your search on bay. This why if one pops up you will get an email.
