I need a small mixer...

...to be used primarily for vocals in a rehearsal setting. I've been considering a Yamaha 10/2, Peavey PV6, and some sort of small Soundcraft.

My main concern is which small, portable passive mixer has the best mic preamps, in terms of both tone shaping and gain db boost?

Got one I'd let go of decently. And it's got rack ears, so you can mount it in a GigRig with amps, EQs, or F/X.

It was my main gigging rig until we added a singing rhythm player and the lead guitar/lead vocalist started bringing his keys. Then we ran outta channels and I went to a Mackie 1604.

my last band had the Yamaha as a practice mixer.... I was happy with all it did for live work. I use an old 70s-80s Tascam in front of my DAW though. I needed a 4-bus mixer and this has a nice warm mic pre.

i've got a Yamaha MG12/4. It's been good to me, although the headphone jack went out not too long after i got it.

if you only want good pre's, and don't need that many channels or routing capability, i'd recommend the small Soundcraft boards, or finding something used but in good condition

I have both the PV6 and an Alesis USB 6 channel.

I was happy with both till my son pilfered the Alesis.
Now I am merely happy with the PV6, I got it from MF on sale for under a hundred.
