I need help with my preamp problem (Warwick bass)

Hello

I have a problem with my Warwick corvett Rockbass 5 strings. 2 weeks ago my bass didn't work at all so i thought it is the battery so i changed it but still didn't work. I took to a repair center and their feedback was the preamp doesn't work and i have to change it. I tried to find the right preamp for my bass but couldn't find anything.

Do you know or have a link to a website that sells the right preamp for my bass?

if not,, Do you recommend any pickups + a preamp that fits my bass ?

Sometimes they turn up in the Classifieds when someone makes a swap.

I don't think the rockbass line comes with great preamps, anything you buy will be an upgrade. I would recommend EMG since the pickups are more than likely active and EMG preamps are designed for active pickups.

MEC pickups with gold letters on them are active, if they are silver letters they are passive

They are gold pickups which means active

Should i open the hardwear to know that? because what i have on my bass is only 2 long pickups with 4 knobs

Yes, that one will do perfectly, 4 pots means 4 knobs. The EMG makes a great pair because you can connect the red power cable from the pickups to the power distributor on the preamp, the rest is simple, white cable is signal and black is ground

MEC pickups and preamps are similar to EMG, tonally, so they should get along very well together.

I would certainly contact Warwick before doing anything else. It might be possible to repair your existing preamp or get an exact replacement. It seems suspect to me that your preamp would just stop working with no explanation.
A loose or broken connection seems a lot more likely, and should be an easy fix.

Where are you located, Bater? Warwick has a storefront in NYC. They may have others. It might be worth letting them look at it if you're near one of their stores.
