I need slap strings...

Hi I bought my Fender Jazz Bass (USA) about one year ago and still has the original strings from guitar center. Its so hard to get the slap-pop-slap sound... (i suck at slap), but its way easier on other basses, don't know why. Any way, I would like to know what strings are good for slapy sound. Thanks

New strings. The bright, punchy, zippy, new string sound is what you want.

Start with some new round wound standard guage strings. I might suggest you take your bass in for a fresh set-up (unless you know how to do it yourself)and then at least you should have decent action which should allow for easier slapping. Through trial and error, (which may mean going through some different brands of strings) you'll find one that suits you best.

I'm not sure what strings the Fender Jazz Bass comes with but I've found that they are excellent for slapping. Or it could just be that the strings are new xD

I have a MIM Fender Jaz and i use Dean Markley Blue Steel (Nickel Platted). I also get them in extra light (.040 - .095)

Ernie ball strings i hear are good for slap

try rotosound swing bass strings, they are pretty zingy

get a light gauge, 95 E string
