I need some advice on purchasing humbuckers. Help please!

Hey all! Kyle here. I would greatly appreciate some advice from all of you talented bassists out there. I have just been graciously given a free custom made bass from a friend of mine. The guitar has slots in its body for humbucking pickups. I reaaally love how the bass plays and want to use it through an amp, though it has no pickups. My other bass is a Fender Jazz which uses the single coils. I love the sound of the jazz bass and wanted to get some recommendations from all of you as to what are some really nice sounding humbucking pickups that I could use. They dont have to be comparable to the Jazz Bass sound, but that would be a great reference to play off of. Thanks! Hope to hear from you.

What kind of humbuckers is it routed for?

You'll need to measure the holes, then look at the different manufactured sizes available. If you are very lucky you will discover that the holes are a 'standard' size which will accommodate several different pickup brands. EMG 35 and EMG 40 would be examples. They are popular, so other manufacturers, such as Bartolini, make pickups in the same size, calling them 'EMG 35 size' or 'EMG 40 size.'

Ohhhh, Alright. Thanks. Well, until I have time to measure the size of the holes could you all just let me know what pickups you would use anyways? Then later after I find out what size they are I can already have an idea what to look for anyways. Thanks!
