I need some help

So after much thought, I've decided I want to buy a new bass with my Christmas money. I've been playing hard on a cheap little Squier P Bass for over a year and a half and I think it's time for an upgrade. Now I need help choosing between two basses: either an Ibanez ATK or a Yamaha RBX A2. I love the sound of both but I haven't played either and I'll be buying one online, so can I please get some input on them?

first of all, you're only supposed to bump once every 24 hours. most people are probably busy with post holiday stuff.

second of all, you will mostly get people telling you that it's such a personal choice that they can't really help you with it.

there are no stores around you to try one?

Well, from the Ibanez ATK, I hear you can get like Stingray tones out of it, which is pretty cool. Don't know about the other bass though. I also thought that the bump rule was only for selling stuff or else people would keep fighting for the top spot.

Sleep on it. You will most likely be glad that you did. Buying a bass without first playing it, is like judging a book by its cover. How the bass sounds should not be the defining moment in a decision to buy, because you can change the sound to be whatever you want it to be. What you cannot change, is the way it feels in your hands. I absolutly adore the sound of a growling Ric, however, they feel like a 2x4 with strings on it when I hold one.Do youself and your pocket a favor and "try before you buy".

I wouldn't buy either one if it were me. I've had the RBX4A2 and can't say I recommend it at all. The only advantage it had was the light weight. But mine had multiple high frets and it just feels plastic-y. The ATK's on the other hand tend to be pretty heavy and they do have pretty chunky necks.

Well if you haven't personally played them yet I wouldn't recommend buying them. If you like the sound that could have been the setup that the bass player you listened to has and may affect the sound. I would recommend that you try to find it and play both to see which one sounds and feels better when you play it THEN order the bass.
Personally I like ibanez better. I have the sr700 as my backup bass and it's awesome

The Tribute neck is fatter than the ATK neck, and is not on the OP's list. My vote is for the ATK.
if you mean thicker that wrong, but I you mean wider that right, I have l2500 and yes they are wide' but not thicker
the thickness of atk if 24mm and tribute is 2-4 mm thinner than atk
and best about tribute, you can get humbucker and jazz sounds, and go passive or active and have two pickups

+1 to trying something out. I just bought my first bass today, and the one I thought I wanted from looking online and researching is not the one I came home with. I wouldnt have known unless I invested the time at the store. I went in with a MM copy mindset and came out with a jazz.

I got the Ibanez Sr300Ip today and I think it's amazing. I don't have any experience with yamaha but I highly rate Ibanez. I love it!
