I need some rounds that are like me ...

Seriously, how about some nice, rich, dark sounding roundwounds? LaBella slappers are close to the sound I want, but feel a little stiff to me. Ken Smith Burners feel nice and flexible but are bright as heck. What else should I try?

I have found that after breaking in, TI Superalloys are very nice. Sort of creamy top end. It takes a couple of weeks for the break in.

DR Sunbeams. They have a nice warmth to them right from the get go & even moreso once they've been broken in a bit.

R. Cocco Nickel Roundwounds. Similar to DR Sunbeams, but they have even less of an edge to them. Had them on my Lakland JO5, but am going back to stainless to get a little brightness back.

+1 I was a Slinky guy for years. My local store ran out. I tried a set of these after the owner (a personal friend) made me a deal. Since then I have tried a bunch of other strings and I keep coming back to these because of the very qualities you brought up with your question.

If you want darker sounding strings than standard nickel rounds while staying with something that has a similar sound and tension, then you should try some groundwounds. I've tried the D'Addario (halfwounds) and GHS versions (brite flats) and they're both good strings.
