I now have more P-Basses than Jazz Basses!

For most of my life I have been primarily a Jazz bass guy. Still my favorite basses for a variety of reason. BUT it seems I have crossed over the fence to the P-Bass side! For R&B, Blues and old school funk, man there is nothing like a good P-Bass. Especially with Flats on it! Well taking stock of things I realize I have more P-Basses than Jazz basses now! So here are my three P-Basses, all strung up with D'Addario Chromes Flats.

2019 Custom P-Bass. Inspired by a '72 Fender Tele bass, this bass sports a Warmoth body and neck made to my specs. Load with a Nordstrand NP4A pickup, Hipshot bridge, Schaller machine heads and Sadowsky knobs! I made this bass for the International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

Next is my 2025 Limited Edition Fender Player II. Love this bass! The neck with the rolled edges is oh so comfy. All stock except for the Fender High Mass bridge I put on.

My newest, a 2003 Fender Sting Signature P-Bass. I love this thing! It plays and sounds so good and looks awesome. I know many people dislike the Stinglay at the 12th fret, but I like it! Two mods, I changed out the white pickguard. Also this bass sported the old style 2-saddle bridge. I swapped it out for a bridge made by a company in the UK called Retrovibe. Their bridge retains that vintage looks but sports 4 individual saddles for better intonation adjustments and string height.

This next one while not technically a P-Bass, does deserve notable mention!

My 1979 Kramer DMZ 4001B. This is one serious P-Bass! Like a Fender P-Bass on steroids! Cuts through ANY mix! It sports the original DiMarzio pickup.

Same here, I prefer Jazz over the Precision but now have 5 Precision basses and only 4 Jazz basses

A good problem to have! But a problem, still! Solution? Start shopping for another J or two to restore balance. Because more basses...

Not a big fan of Rosewood. I do have a Jazz Bass Special (which is more like a P-Bass than a Jazz) that is rosewood.

Yup, I always thought I was a Jazz bass person, but then bought a P bass. And another. And another, etc. Now, I'm at 5 P's, 1 Jazz. So it goes. Nice Basses, OP!

I used to be a Jazz-only player. Never liked the Pbass for a long time.

Now, I own two Pbasses, it's my main type of bass for my band. I also own a Jazz but I haven't taken out of its case in a year, make of that what you will.

I'm actually going to sell it to pay for the Dingwall SP1 I've just ordered.

Same here, though I didn't even own a Fender until the mid-1990s. It was Gibson>Rick>Music Man>G&L>Spector>Finally...a P-Bass, and another....and another....and another, until I discovered the Jazz Deluxes and Jazz Plusses from the '90s just a few years ago. Last count... 5 Ps & 7 Js even though the Kubickis get 100% of the gigs.
