I really need help... P or J?

Looking to get an MIM Fender. I can't decide which. I wanna always be able to be heard, tone high or low. I know P Bass is fatter but J is thin but cuts through. I've tried them both and like them both for different reasons, but one doesn't completely sway against the other. What should I get for something that will give me the best with the tone high and low?

Buy both, then you have a primary and a backup. You need to own two basses for that reason anyway if you gig.

The test for me was rather simple.

Do a 5 fret reach and see how it feels.
If you have to strain a bit to cover the reach fretting notes cleanly on a P-Bass, then a Jazz neck will be easier to play.
Not agree, I often see people who has small hands smoothly play a P-bass, or longer scale bass, six string bass, or even double bass.
But, well, anybody has and can suggest their opinion.

Can't argue, it was just what helped determine my decision.

Takes seconds for me to adapt between basses, but your #1 Go To Bass should be as effortless to play as possible.

Actually my hands are small and my first bass was a P-Bass :D

before that, even a 3/4 Double Bass when I was in my elementary school as a bassist for my school choir (my index finger was the only fretted finger tho)..

Or jaguar TS. I use almost only the P.
