I split my finger open!!

Ok, really annoying, but it happens. I took a shower, a nice HOT one, and I finished and came out, I saw I had a few dishes in the sink needing to be cleaning.
So I grab a pot to start scrubbing it, and I manage to swipe my finger across the underside of the pot's handle which happened to be very sharp and made of PLASTIC...
Well like I said, I just came out of a hot shower so my skin was all soft and my blood was pumping extra hard, so now I have a loose chunk of skin on the pad of my left index finger with multiple bandaids over it so it doesn't squirt blood everywhere.
Gonna be a real ass to try practising bass or anything now...
Luckily for me I don't have anything like a major gig to practise for, but anyone else have other crappy, what-are-the-chances, kinda injury like that?

Once took a punch at a very annoying friend. He ducked, I hit a tree and got what hey called a "classic boxers break". Broke a bone in my hand above the little finger on my left hand.

I finished a tune up on my car, went to a gig the next night (hurt like hell and was swollen badly). Then went to the docs on Monday. Took three plastic surgeons to set the thing!:bawl:

Now I always check for trees.:D

I split my finger open!!

I,ve had it happen to my plucking fingers ... those are the times I am glad I8 am a good pick player.
I'd been playing for about a year when I went through a spate of constantly having a cut right index finger, I don't know how I managed to keep doing it. That's when I decided to try my brother's guitar picks, and 20 odd years later it's still my favourite method.

Only one really gnarly injury I've had on my hand...

Pretty recently actually, I was at my drummers girlfriend's house, and was hanging out with her and all the bandmates. I ran back behind her pool, but couldn't see where I was going, stubbed my toe and landed (hard) on a gigantic pile of firewood (must have been some nails in there too, considering the injury).

I get up and brush myself off only to see a 2 inch long slice on the inside of my right (plucking) hand. The cut stretched from about an inch above my wrist to the bottom of the thumb; it was pretty deep, and there was blood everywhere, which got all over me and my clothes (I didn't actually think I was hurt until I saw it, because I didn't feel a thing).

Luckily that healed up nicely. It also turned out to make a pretty awesome scar, along with multiple other deep grooves and cuts I got in my arms :bassist:

I was a skeptic about the whole use of superglue until I read into it. I know it contains a cyano compound (Yes, cyano as in cyanide) but surgeons are actually using it instead of stitches in some cases. Apparently it's harmless and can be taken off with nail polish remover.

Wow, chance to geek it up! My day job is in chemistry =)

Superglue is actually a resin that cures instead of an adhesive that dries. The cyano I think is attached to an acrylate group which basically polymerises (cures) hard when it comes in contact with a soft base (i.e. your finger).

The cyano group is chemically attached to the polyacrylate backbone which is all joined together. No chance of some loose cyanide floating around. Shouldn't be a problem, glue your fingers all you want!
