Most importantly, he quoted The Tubes. That requires an SVT and an 810.

The hell with all these lightweight rigs! (Even if I do own a Thunderfunk)

I'm about to become the anti-lightweight rig guy. I have a '70's SVT coming my way and a terriffic boutique guitar amp builder will be offering a 1000 watt hybrid bass amp soon. I expect it won't be too heavy but will require a bit more muscle than a Thunderfunk or Markbass.

Now I just need a roadie for the livingroom!

Has anybody A/Bed the any of the Mark Bass tone up against a high end Tube pre like the Alembic or Kern, ect.....?

Portabilty is cool...and I completely understand why some NYC and European folks would love it.

However its all about the tone first.

Just curious if its been more of a portabilty thing that folks are into then anything else :confused:

(This could be a whole seperate thread).

I wouldn't use it if it were pocket sized if it didn't give me the sound I want. That rest of my stuff isn't "that" heavy.

Tone first. Check.
Louder than I need. Check

The rest is gravy.

I've used Alembic pres before and my LMII sounds quicker to me. Smooth but still very responsive to touch.

I've A/B'd the LMII with MY tube amps-NO not "hi end" ones U mentioned BUT..............
IMHO it holds up MORE than well!!! It surprised me with it's versatility. It doesn't sound just like an 'old tube amp' but it can do a mighty good impression for a s.s. amp- better than most s.s. amps I've tried! & remember I WAS one who initially wrote the MArkBass off! I still am not real impressed with some of the MB amps & cabs, but I do know the LMII does a great job! is powerful, versatile, light, small, & a Joy to use!

I go back and forth between a Alembic and a BBE (I love them both) tried the Kern like that as well. Not a fan of the Demeter or SWR though.

I will check out the LMII though some time.
