I just found it amusing because I haven't played with the guy in over a year, and back then he didn't have a tuner either. I dunno how someone expects to play a gig if they can't even tune their instrument.

I find it amusing that most young people are incapable of tuning by ear. I'm in my 40's and never had a tuner until I got one this past Christmas...I've been tuning by ear for 30 years. I just tune to a song I know or to a note from the keyboard player.

Tuners accurate to a tenth of a cent are not expensive anymore. Tuning by ear or a note from a keyboard you can still be off by a few cents. If everyone of off by the same amount in different directions, even though all are technically in tune, the sound will suffer.

Technology is good, embrace it. ;)
