Hey guys,

My last post was about if I should quit my band or not, well I decided I am leaving the band.

I still have to tell my band members, my nephew left yesterday. When should I tell them I quit?

Does it really matter what they think? If you don't want to be in the band the reason is your business, let them think what they will.

It doesn't get easier if you wait longer.

It's not fair, either, to string the group along and allow them to think you're invested when you already know you're leaving. Being upfront gives them more time to find a replacement player. It's the fair thing to do.

And to be concerned what they think about you leaving is worrying about something you can't control....unless of course you have the ability to control the thoughts of others.

Ask for a band meeting. Tell them in person. Be prepared to return anything of theirs if you have it and to tell them that you need for them to settle up as soon as possible.

If there are gigs in the queue and they ask for you to stay on then put limits on it; one rehearsal before each show and no gigs past a certain date.

No offense Jelle, but you sound very insecure in your post.
Who cares what they think?
If you have legitimate reasons to quit, and you tell them in an honest and polite way, and not right before a gig or something, what's the big deal?

If you take a well-thought decision, tell them, stick with it and explain your reasons.
As long as you treat them with respect, you gotta go your own way.
Do what a man's gotta do.
Etc etc .

Be a pro about it. If they have gigs planned, give 'em a 2 week notice, just like you would any other job.

that's a good question , is this even a gigging band? (If not then its a hobby, and even easier to quit)

But if it is a gigging band- tell them "I will do the next gig only, and you need to be looking for a replacement".

Well you now know HOW to quit and have decided to do so.
You told US about your situation 3 days ago, in the HOW do I quit thread. I would think you would have already told them by now.

Make SURE you have ALL of your gear in your possession when you tell them. I caution you against thinking you can just pick it up later.
