Yes! I can get through most of it at this point. I haven’t run it with the band yet. I can play the bass break at speed about 50% of the time, so I just need to get that part a little more fine tuned.
I actually stepped away from it for a day or two and when I came back to it magically I was playing it better.

Ha, nah. I’ve made a good living for the last ten years making that singer happy. Keeps me on my toes and not bored!
That happens! Sometimes you just need a break and some time to let it sink in.
UPDATE:
We practiced it as a band yesterday and pretty much nailed it, and decided to give it a whirl at the gig we had tonight and we totally nailed it. It's definitely going to be one we all have to keep practicing though to make sure we don't lose it.

Somehow, I question that Fm chord.
To me it sounds more like Ab.
Yes, the bass starts arpeggiating Fminor but the harmony is on Ab.
It's only my opinion.
I prefer the following position for that part if I'd felt uncomfortable playing it as "instructed."
And I would stay on the same note, Ab (fret 11) at the end (just change fingers - from 2nd to 4th) of the phrase and play C -Eb on the E string- frets 8 and 11.

LOL I found that one right after the Ed Sullivan one, thought of sharing it, so you beat me to the punch. The one I shared, I'm sure he's miming to a track, but that one is really playing - and I noticed he simplifies the part, and they skip the breakdown altogether.

So you don't drop down to the Ab on the 4th fret at the end? Okay. I doubt if anyone would call you out on it, but that's a bit of a departure from the original part.
In my opinion, it's YES and NO.

The note is the same, just higher.
I would be impressed if the bass player (nowadays) would play the following notes, but it's only my vision.
For a "careful" rendition of that spot, I would play it by using my "ergonomics" as
I think this is one of the very few live clips where Jermaine is actually playing it. And they do skip the bass break. There are not a lot of live versions of this song that aren't miming, but that one might be the real deal.
You know, I actually did the higher note at first but once I got used to playing it I started doing it "properly".

It's funny, I'm pretty animated on stage but so many of the stages we play are tiny. So I sort of have a lane behind our lead singer and our two guitarists where I do my stage moves and then just step up to my mic when I need to sing. In this song, however, I'm pretty much dialed in to playing rather than ridiculous stage presence.
