i'm glad man. i wish more people had a genuine Christmas spirit, that focused on giving, rather than recieving.

Awesome christmas gift! Sorry to hear about her deadbeat parents, but she's lucky to have you in her life. Boys and girls (perhaps that should read "especially girls") need to grow up with examples of responsible males in their lives.

Cool! I love having a son/daughter/neice/nephew, etc. to share my (limited) knowledge of bass with. About a year and a half ago, my son wanted to start playing bass(unfortunately, he lives in another state because of divorce
) so instead of spending $$$ on possibly a passing fad, I let him use my MIM P bass. He loves it....
so I officially gave it to him and bought him an Ashdown Perfect Ten combo. He had it strung up with flats over thanksgiving and it sounds sweet. Since then, he's in Jazz Band in his high school and is coming along marvelously.For Christmas, I got him a new Strap, some straplocks, and a Zoom B2 multi-effects pedal. I can't wait to give it to him. Whenever he comes to my house he loves playing with my pedal board..... probably more than I do
Anyway, congrats... sorry for the rant, it's just so fun and exciting.
P.S.- On the other end, 2 xmas' ago, I bought my daughter a nice Daisy Rock geetar and a little Crate amp. Unfortunately, that sits in her Pink gig bag in her closet. Oh well. It was still fun spoiling her.

I was inspired by this to get my friend's 6 year-old one too. She already has a keen appreciation for music, and she fell in love with a pink shortscale Johnson 6-string at the store (which I wouldn't be able to help her learn), so I think this is going to be a winner.

Nice. I also have a sweet neice, as well as a teenage nephew. My 2 younger brothers both died young, leaving me as their kids sole uncle. Needless to say, they're both geared up with (guitars), amps, etc. It's a blast buying gear for kids, and it feeds my GAS urges without adding more stuff to my own pile-o-stuff. Everyone should try it, if an opportunity presents itself.
gotta say... you are a pretty cool uncle. and if you're in college... that's even more impressive to me.

that's awesome mate. I got my niece a guitar...don't know if she has ever played as i am half way round the world. But can't wait for my boy (negative two months old

it's pretty freakin hard to play a lefthanded bass right handed.
This p bass is a bit big on my grandson (now 4) but I have an SX shorty in waiting for him to use when his interest perks a bit in a year or so.
