I was in grade 11 back then. I had just gotten out of the shower, and my mom had breakfast for my dad and I ready on the table. My dad turns on the TV, flips it to CNN (he always watches the news in the morning), and almost immediately after that its like "breaking news", right after the first plane hit. They had some ridiculous theories as to why the first plane crashed into the tower...until the second one hit. We were all sitting there staring at the TV like "Oh ****".
All day at school was kind of a blur, we spent a couple of periods just listening to the radio. First period english was weird, as we had just finished reading Death of a Salesman. I'll never forget the discussion we had, where we talked about Willy symbolizing the American Dream and Biff telling him to "take that phony dream and burn it", then relating it to the attacks. It was a really somber discussion and awkward for everyone involved.
