Ibanez EDB-905?

Some guy offered to trade an Ibanez EDB-905 for my OLP 5-er, only problem is idk what that is....I searched and searched but all I got is that it's made of some weird material and was discontinued....I asked him for some pictures and information about it, but while I'm waiting for the reply I figured I'd see if you guys know anything about it. (If my 'genre' matters, I play mainly stuff from Parkway Drive to Avenged Sevenfold, but I do play some Jazz, and Classic Rock stuff too)

I had an EDC705 I bought back in 2000 I think, it was made from a material called Luthite. It had active electronics and could dial in all kind of sounds. It was a really nice bass, it was their top of the line at the time, super solid feel, low action and played great. I played metal with it and it was killer. IMO those Ergodyne basses were really nice, in the end I ended up going back to my Fender P, for simplicity's sake, but I would go for it if you want a wide range of tone options.

Are you sure it's an EDB 905 or maybe the EDA 905? 'Cause I don't remember the EDB model number going that high...

Anyway, if it's an EDA 905, you're about to get an interesting bass...not everyone's cup of tea for sure due to its looks (heck, it took me a while to start liking it), but it's a good bass. I know OLP basses are quite ok basses for the money, but I'd always trade one in exchange for an Ibby - but that's just me

I had a couple of luthite Ibanez basses. Seemed ok but they always smelled like gasoline to me. And these were several years old, not like it was finish curing or anything either. After they had been gone a while a friend asked if I would set up his bass and I took it. His was a Cort Curbow and I didn't know they were luthite until I opened the case. BAM! luthite smell again. yuck. Not horrible but noticeable and if you leave it in the case the smell will always greet you.
