Ibanez EHB1505s 30” 5-string

IMG_4368.jpeg

I just got a used one delivered today and love it so far. The frets are in great shape on this one and the jack has a release tab. I had the EHB1005S for a little while and didn’t mind the multi scale with the exception of playing the first frets on the B and E strings at times, but this is way better for me. I really like the bridge pickup, but I am not crazy about the neck pickup, so I may swap them out for a Times Square set I have. The low B string is growing on me and I think part of why I am gravitating towards soloing the bridge pickup is because the B sounds best that way for how I play (YMMV). I am looking forward to being able to use long scale sets on this so I can use my preferred strings (which aren’t available as a short scale 5 string set).

Looks good Koj! I have the same and have come to like it a lot, as well. The straight scale is much more comfortable, the panga neck is much more appealing and practical (I can see the position markers!).

On the pickups: I found the vari-mid preamp is the tone killer, even in bypass. It doesn’t make sense, but when I pulled mine and wired in a high quality V/B/T harness, the pickups were really revealed.

So you put a passive harness in? I’m thinking of doing the same

Hey, did anyone found well-fitting bag (or case) for these shorties?
I have searched the internet for the past weeks and bar the SKB iseries 3614, Gator headless and some keyboard soft cases, I cannot find a bag that is fitting the length of the bass well.
To elaborate a bit, it is all slightly smaller or way too large (like the included ibanez bag).
I am trying to fit it to the boot of my car and that is 38.2" (97cm) wide.

PS: Gator has a nice GS-HEADLESSELEC case but I would have to gut it almost completely to make it work with this bass. Just feels like too much money for half of it to end up in a dumpster. Also, I am not sure how rigid would it be without the foam insides. Any experiences there?
