I seriously doubt that. Call me skeptical.

"Skeptical" definitely isn't the first word that comes to mind to describe someone passing judgment on an instrument he hasn't played.

I really wanted to dislike this bass but I just couldn't.
The goofy body shape is completely functional. In thirty-five years I have never played a bass that felt so perfect sitting. On the strap it balances perfectly too. On top of that the six bolt neck is set deeper into the body than a Fender-esque bass so you're not reaching for the low notes....it almost feels like a medium scale in how easy it is to play. The fretwork and factory setup are top notch...gig-able right out of the box.

The pickups and preamp are sensitive and well matched. The notching on the EQ is well thought out giving a bunch of useful sounds rather than having to dial through crap to get to something you can use....very much like a Sadowsky in this regard.

It won't be everyone's cup of tea but it is easily in the league of any high end boutique bass. I have no regrets buying one. Far from it, if I'd bought this bass when I started playing it might have been the only solid body bass guitar I ever bought.

They look great ergonomically, but I don't dig the tone. Too mid-scooped for me.

The sonic arch pickups were introduced in the as hula fretted/fretless which I own and they are real and real quiet.
