Ibanez GSR205 Questions

I used to have one. I got it in pieces for about 30 bucks and fixed it up. I only owned it for a few months, so I can't say much about how stable the neck was, but it was a decent instrument. If I hadn't acquired a Spector 5 string then I would still have the gsr205 for a 5 string. The bass boost the Ibanez has on its active preamp will easily bring out the low B string. I do remember the neck seemed thinner than most 5 strings I've played, which I liked. The body was extremely lightweight though so you may have issues with neck dives unless you add weights at the end of the strap or something.

I tried to join a couple Ibanez clubs but no one ever gave me a number. I've been playing Ibanez since early 1980's. :)

Well I've been away from TB for quite a while, but AFAIR in order to get into a club you need to fit the requirement (as in owning/playing that specific brand instrument/model), posting aa photo as "evidence" and of course, asking for a member number. Now I don't know who's taking care of the clubs these days...some of the guys that started them moved on to other brands or are out of TB... maybe the guys asigning numbers are busy... you'd better post a question in there. I'm sure someone in the know will answer. Ibby owners are a helpful bunch :)

I had one, but it wasn't for me. I didn't like the neck profile and I prefer passive basses. However, that is my personal taste. I didn't have it long enough to tell if there would be neck issues; however, if the instrument sucked, there wouldn't be so many of them. I think a bass like this is a perfect project platform. The price is right and its an excellent value. You get a big bang for the buck and if you decide that you don't like it, there are others who want it and will love it.
