Ibanez GVB36 -- Anyone tried it yet?

Will be following this thread since I just ordered my GVB36 but will have to wait a couple of months.

There are a couple of reviews on the second page i think. one from me and one from another member.
While our reviews differ somewhat, the general consensus is: The Preamp is garbage and needs to be replaced, probably replace the pickups too for a set of real barts, if you can get used to the 14mm string spacing, it's a pretty decent bass, and lastly, for the money, it's WAY more worth it than the GVB1006, even if you do have to change the electronics. I get a call from the music store nine days after ordering and it came in. I picked it up that day and now have played it for awhile the last two nights. I'm really liking it. It feels real natural and much easier to play than the Alembic Orion Six I just sold. I'm looking forward to playing it more this weekend with more time to give to it and also playing it through my big rig during the daytime.

Just got the GV36 from MF. Had it 4 days and could not get into it.
Pros: Nice looking, not many build flaws to mention, price was good. Didnt mind the string spacing - pretty managable.
Cons: Buzzing from the pick-ups were anoying (and no, my cord and amp were not the problem). The basses' preamp was not very good. Overall it sounds very boxy and undefined. At low volume it's tolerable , at higher volume the noise gets obvious. A little on the heavy side favoring some slight neck dive but manageable. One choice of color.
Overall: Was not impressed. Played it against funk, smooth jazz, rock, and recorded a tune with it. It just didnt have that certain something to keep my interest. Sent it back for a refund. Not sure it would be worth gutting it and putting in quality electronics and humbuckers at this juncture however doing that would be a big plus if I was to keep it.
