The new MODE basses have been discussed here a few times. I love the bass but wanted to try a few things.
EMG has the new E6W pickups and I was really wanting to try them.
I also have Taurus Preamps in some of my other basses and they pair with EMG pickups very nicely.
I cut a custom pickup routing template on my laser using the dimensions on the EMG PDF for those pickups.
Routed out the J shape to a Soapbar shape. Painted the cavity black. No shielding needed on pickup cavity when using EMG. Installed pickups. Then installed the Taurus TM2 preamp.
Taurus is a modular preamp and has 3 bands plus a punch and presence mini toggle switches. They work really well in enhancing certain frequencies to bring out the best in your pickups.
I had some Sadowsky style knobs I put on.
It turned out great. The tone is very high end boutique bass. Powerful and versatile.
