Ibanez musician fretless? $$

My buddy wants to sell me an old school (88 I think) Ibanez musician fretless. Does anyone know what they are worth? It's in pretty good shape. It's supposedly the same kind Sting played, (or plays).

They don't seem to sell for much, but I don't have an exact figure. Check out completed auctions on eBay. They are great instruments, although I haven't played the latter ones. I had an '81 fretted one. Very heavy instruments. You can tell the age from the serial number. There should be a letter which is the month it was made and then the first 2 numbers are the year. So for example H8157839 would be August '81.

Sting played an early one. They changed the pickups in the early '80s. No idea if that made them better or worse.

Thanx for the info. It is actually pretty fun to play. I just bought a Warwick thumb BO 5string and I was gonna sell my Ibanez ATK 5string. But I think I'll try and trade him strait across for this thing.

'83 is the 2nd generation of Musician bass (which I prefer). Very high build quality and superb sound. The market value of these basses is in the $400 range, depending on condition. Prices on fretted models are higher. Trading an ATK5 even up for the Musician is a good deal. For you.

I have had and '83, since 1983 and 4 years ago picked up a 81 fretless. Great basses
