Ibanez or Squier

You could get a Roadstar II Ibanez bass on Ebay for $200-300. I'm just sayin'. I prefer the very good Squiers over the newer Ibanez's. But the older Roadstars and Blazers are hard to beat for bang for the buck.

I have a Squier VM Jazz bass and love it. You can't go wrong with a Squier!

I own an SR500 and a few different Squiers (VMs and an older Affinity P) and frankly, the Ibanez SR500 is awfully close in voice and feel to my Fender Deluxe Jazz active.

I can use either the SR500 or the Deluxe Jazz interchangeably - but certain audiences hate to see a plastic bass (their words, not mine) in a Jazz-Dinner-Wine Tasting venue. In those stiff shirt atmospheres, I use the SR500.

Same-o, same-o in my opinion with just the slightest difference in necks and (especially moreso) - the weight.

Older ibanez rock, i used to play an 85' roadstar II but i got stolen a couple years back...However i'm not so much of a fan of the new ibanez basses and would personally go with the squire

Yeah - it's just eye-appeal to them and they are older than I - so they are much more set in their way.

Not the I am set in my ways - nope, not at all.

I think some feel that the colors and/or finish on the Fenders looks like a circus wagon and they want class (eg: a Stradivarius) - in the instruments. The SR500 in natural wood tone is more to their liking.

I own a Sr300 and it's very nice everything on it feels get and well made the neck is smooth and sounds really nice. I will agree with what others have said it can leave you wanting in the tone realm. To better explain that I like a classic rock kinda tone like a John Paul Jones sound and a Motown like sound from my bass. The SR300 can get really close to it but not quite. My father Said the bass is "A jack of all trades but a master of none" or IMO a great starter bass (not that the squire isn't) while your searching for the sounds and genre you want to play. I really like my Ibanez.

That said I (from playing my Ibanez) discovered the tone I'm after. And I was in my local music store and tried a VM jazz. I was floored by how easy it was to get exactly the tone I like and subtly change that to match all I could ever want for my tone goals. If I added chromes I feel I would be in bass heaven. Now I can't speak for craftsmanship on the squire. It looked nice the knobs seemed as nice as any other fender I have put my hands on including MIA fenders (1 of which was right next to the Squire) I couldn't tell any difference visually or sonically but that's my novice opinion.

I don't think I'm going to sell my SR300 but I really like the VM jazz ALOT. I'm torn but I hope this helps someone and I didn't ramble to much. And forget grammatical errors please
