Ibanez PIB3 or Ibanez SR375

I once owned the SR 375M, and I liked how comfortable and light it was. However, the pickups lacked that punchy feeling I always look for, especially for slap. The PIB will be more expensive, so if you're planning to buy either of them, get the SR 375, and change the pickups. Bartolinis are pretty good IMO, and will improve the sound significantly along with, possibly, another preamp.

Been there, done that - I have an SR370F. Upgraded pickups are Bartolini MK4CBC (direct replacement for your CAP), upgraded preamp is Bartolini NTMB 5.2. Sounds awesome now, but pickups and pre combined cost me pretty much the same amount of money as the bass itself(I bought it used).

Maple should sound somewhat brighter than mahogany - works for me, because it kinda compensates for warm sounding rosewood fretless fretboard. but you can't go wrong with either maple or mahogany - it's more like a matter of personal preference.

Here are some samples of the bass in question:

is that sample sound of your SR370F with Bartolini MK4CBC & Bartolini NTMB 5.2?

Can't speak to the PIB, but I own 2 SR's. I think they're a lot of instrument for the money, especially if you pick one up used. I got one to use as a cheap backup and ended up selling my MIM jazz and buying another (with money left over :)). Can't say enough good things about them. Take it to a good tech for a thorough setup and you've got a very stage-worthy instrument.

All IMO of course. Others might feel otherwise.
