Ibanez Question

I've decided I'm either getting the SR605 or the SR755. They're essentially the same bass, except for the body wood (605 is ash, 755 is mahogany with a walnut top) and a few cosmetic differences.

Would there be a big difference in tone from one to the other? If not, what would make the 755($800) more expensive than the 605($650)?

Tone-wise I have no idea, my guess would be they sound pretty similar. As far as the price I'm thinking that the gold hardware, the walnut top, and the matching headstock are where you're getting the majority of the price difference.

The tonal differences are IMO minute. Go play both and see for yourself as that's the best way to determine which one you'll like best.

rom my experience with Ibanez Soungear basses, they almost all sound a like from the SR 500 series and up.

If you want an Ibanez bass that has warm lows, go with the sr755. bass guitars that has mahogany bodies oftenly provide warm lows. I have a passive Ibanez soundgear bass that has a light-weighted mahogany body and it does provide warm lows. but it also has some punch. especially after I put some stainless strings on that bass. if you want an Ibanez bass that has more punch, go with the sr605. bass guitars with ash bodies usually provides punchy sounds. so do bass guitars with alder bodies.

Yes, these 2 basses sound different. The 605 has a warmer & mellower tone with great clarity. The 755 sounds more aggressive, more like a SR500 with a bite.
