Ibanez RS900 wiring/repair questions

I have an RS900 with single pickup that the treble cut/boost knob isn't working on and would like to fix it myself. My questions are:

1. There is one purple and one green wire coming out of the preamp that are not connected to anything. Only the outer lug of the faulty treble pot only has one red wire attached, coming from the preamp. Should the purple and green wires be connected to either or one of the other lugs?

2. Should I shield underside of the control cavity cover or just where the shielded screw hole on the body is?
