Ibanez SDGR SR900FM

I have the opportunity to buy an Ibanez SDGR SR900FM (4-string) for $600, no case. It's a used guitar but my understanding is it's in pretty good shape.

I've noodled on SDGRs before but I can't say I've played them enough to know how well I like them. I've been thinking of buying a Lakland Skyline, either 4 or 5 string. I currently play a Squier Vintage Retro Jazz and it's time to grow the family a bit.

My band is an alternative/bluesy original band with some covers -- covers include Creep (Radiohead), Volcano (Damien Rice), Simple Man (Skynyrd), some John Mayer, some Cream.... you get the picture.

So -- is the Ibby worth $600?

My complaint about it would be the all maple body. I'm not into the brightness of all maple body bass. Maple top on other darker wood body is nice. But all maple is just to trebly oriented for me. It could be a nice soundgear bass if you want one thats brighter sounding then most of the soundgears.

I had an SR400 and and SR1000EFM - both had the most fantastic necks and action ever. I could not get a sound I liked from the SR-1000 ( I play Classic Rock) and although it was gorgeous, I had to let it go.

$600 is a good price for the 900, I think.

You can get any sound you like with EQ or effects, if desired. If you like the way a SDGR plays, buy it! Personally, I like the light weight and slim neck.

That bass sold for +/- $800 new. I like Soundgears, but they don't have much of a resale value; I think if you looked around, you could find one for less. In fact, there's a mint one with case on ebay for $500 right now.

I just looked at completed auctions; one sold (with case) for $350. $600 with no case is just too high.

What year is it? Even in mint condition, I wouldn't spend more than $400.00 on it without a case.
