Ibanez SDGR

I've got a bass from a friend and I'm looking for more information about it. It just has SDGR on the headstock. No numbers referring to a model. I looked up the serial number and it was made in Japan in 1991. That is all I could find. Nothing to explain the control pots. Web searches always brings Ibanez basses with other model numbers but nothing with just SDGR on the headstock. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Its an Ibanez Soundgear series, but as for IDing which one, that can be a bit difficult. I'd start at one of the Ibanez fansites - somewhere, I saw one with pics of all the different models, with pickup config, bridge style, etc. I used it in IDing my old CIJ Ibby, but have since misplaced the URL.

How many knobs are on it? Can you post pics?

If there are 4 or 5 knobs, the two closer to the strings are volume and pickup balance, while the ones further away are tone--4 knobs usually has bass/treble and 5 knobs has bass/mid/treble (going from the pickup jack toward the neck).

If it has 3 knobs, they're going to be volume, balance, and tone and it will probably be a passive bass.

Thanks for everybodys reply. Found what I was looking for. Cheers.
